Buttero Goes Online
You all know Buttero holds a special place in my heart when it comes to footwear, so I couldn’t be happier to announce that their online shop is now live! Finally everyone will get a chance to get their hands on these outstanding models, be sure to check it here.
By now, you must have realized that most of the labels I’m listing as “must see” at Pitti, aren’t necessarily the most renowned or commercial for that matter. The reason behind it is not that I want to portray an image of “I’m way to cool for those”, don’t get me wrong: I’ll be hitting major players as hard as everyone else. The thing for me is that I love to wander around the fair, unaware of the locations, simply stumbling upon brands which I ressonate with…The pure excitement of finding new designers and going through their collections is what drives me, especially now that I’m on the process of starting my own label as well (stay tuned).
Next up on the list is Studiopretzel: Emiliano Laszlo’s creations caught my attention a while back, due to its unique Japanese inspired aesthetic, attention to detail and craftsmanship. Heavily influenced by the designer’s personal experience while living in Japan, Studiopretzel has evolved from producing tees and shirts to delivering an assortment of garments as shown in its AW13 collection. The limited production pieces feature high-end fabrics and several trademark details such as the fabric covered buttons and plays on length. Looking forward to see what Emiliano has in store this time around…
Much has been said about love brands: those with an uncanny ability to connect with consumers and develop a unique relationship and history. For me, a perfect example is Tuscany based family brand BUTTERO: undoubtedly one of my favourite footwear labels, this is one of the stands I never miss while at Pitti. What can I say? Buttero has earned a special place in my heart, not only due to closely working with it and accompanying its evolution while working back at Por Vocação, but also because simply put, it produces some of the most unique models out there. Resorting to the most luxurious vegetable tanned leathers and remaining true to its origins, there’s a trademark craftsmanship and authenticity in everything they deliver. Stopping by their stand is a treat in every way, not only do I get a glimpse of upcoming creations (which already account for more than half of my shoe collection), but I also get a chance to keep up with my friends Luca, Massimiliano and Don.
I’ve been owing my friends at Buttero a small token of appreciation of my love for their outstanding footwear. Including an array of boat shoes, derbies, sneakers and traditional boots, my collection has been steadily growing over the years with at least one purchase per season. I don’t think there are many brands out there who merge years of know-how, the best leathers, up to date design, affordable prices and such a unique handcrafted (one might even say rough) feel. For me, each of these pairs has its own individual story…
Dedicated to Mauro, Massimiliano, Luca and Maurizio Sani, Don Ernens and everyone involved in the production of Buttero.
