Daiki Suzuki “Not Designed but Engineered”
Undoubtedly one of the most talented families I’ve seen so far, there’s something unique about the Suzukis. Brothers Takuji (ts(s)) and Daiki (Engineered Garments), have been constantly delivering refreshing takes each collection. This video however, is focused solely on Daiki’s engineering methodology and approach to garments, rather than “simple” design.
Engineered Garments SS13 Collection
Classic Americana meets Daiki Suzuki
Mc. Nasty x Engineered Garments
Super man McNairy just can’t seem to get enough of seeing his name all over the place, judging by the flow of collaborations and projects he’s been involved with lately. As I see it, the only downside is not being able to afford all the items on my wishlist, along with the fact that ideas are running out on what to call him by now…
This time around he joined forces with Engineered Garment’s Daiki Suzuki to bring us a batch of classic longwings with his usual dose of nastiness and wit. The twist here is that although being a pair, the left and right shoe present contrasting leather details, mainly regarding the type of leather used. They might not suit everyone out there, but then again, nor does the work of several other geniuses throughout history.

Woolrich Woolen Mills SS12
McNairy’s vision for W.W. Mills takes on the rugged, task oriented lines of previous designer Daiki Suzuki and mixes them with his own unique aesthetic, resulting in an inspiring, smart rendezvous between preppy and functional.
The SS12 collection presented in Milan had its share of hunting/safari inspired items, while maintaining an updated vibe through the use of fabrics such as chambray or mesh. The color palette revolves around earthy tones, with strong emphasis on khaki and greens, splashed by the occasional pop of color. Similarly to what happens in his footwear line, a fair dose of humor and wittiness are ever present in his creations, such as the chambray shirt with the New York Times print on the chest pocket.
Overall it appears to be a well balanced collection, one that will easily dish out “must haves” for everyone’s wardrobes.
