CAMO AW13 Preview
I’ve been closely following Stefano Ughetti’s label for some time now and for me, there’s no way around it: CAMO is one of the most appealing brands out there. Imbuing classic sartorial pieces with his unique vision, Stefano delivers a breath of fresh air to everything from suits, trousers and blazers, making them the perfect choice for everyone wanting to look sharp with a twist. His aim? Deliver quality tailored garments that people want to wear and feel comfortable in, almost like a second skin… With production taking place in Biella, Italy, the attention to detail is visible in each piece: impeccable fit, clean lines and unique weaving effects are just part of it…
Stefano is definitely a designer to look out for, so much so, that one of his suits was part of a curated selection of pieces in Angelo Flaccavento’s “Vestirse da Uomo” exhibit, showcasing 20 essential items every men should have in his wardrobe (more on that later). To top it off, both him and his staff are among the nicest people I’ve met to date.
While we’re still months away from getting our hands on this collection, that green twill suit is already on my wishlist…

Based on a philosophy of reinterpreting “army, navy and civil” garments, Cristiano Berto brings us a unique AW13 collection revolving around a common key element: the blazer. Inspired by the original knitted cavalry fabric, these polished wool garments present clean lines and aesthetic all wrapped with a sartorial feel…
Lightweight and warm, the knitted wool blazers draw inspiration from the original versions worn by the staff of the H.M.S. Frigate back in 1837, but also from World War I and the Ivy League universe… A refreshing array of beautifully made garments that’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

Smith-Wykes AW13
Although it’s always a treat visiting the major players whose stands are located in the central pavilion, one of the things that excites me the most about Pitti is getting in touch with upcoming brands and designers. This edition in particular had a few outstanding surprises up it sleeve that instantly caught my eye: Smith-Wykes was one of them…
Its AW13 collection draws influences from army, navy and other uniforms, bringing to life a selection of familiar, yet refreshing pieces. Military jackets and peacoats feature subtle details such as contrasting ribbed pocket linings or waterproof hoods and shoulder patches. Traditional motifs are featured in innovative ways through an array of warm sweaters and even camo suffers a makeover, now emerging as a faded, clouded effect in a beautiful mix of pastels and greys.

Buttero AW13
It seemed only fair that Pitti’s first brand to be featured was one of my longtime favourites…The Sani family has been constantly delivering outstanding footwear with a unique handcrafted feel, earning the first place in my wardrobe with 11 pairs, so far…
For AW13 they bring us a few reinvented classics, but also step it up a notch with camouflage prints and fabric/leather combos. To top it off? How about their trademark Tanino sneaker in a premium Horween version? Drooling already…
