After being faced with an overwhelming flow of sweatpants and joggers for the last couple of years, I must say that some of the offerings and styling have been growing on me. Although the vast majority of lookbooks feature the loose, baggy versions that fall into a more sporty category, some labels have refined the original model into a more tailored silhouette.
During my recent stay in Miami while visiting James Perse’s Bal Harbour store, I came across what may be, in my opinion, the perfect pair of sweatpants. After browsing a never ending selection of stores and websites to no avail, I was immediately hooked once I found these… so much so that when faced with the hard task of choosing which color I should go for, I ended up picking them in two colorways: dark grey (portrayed here) and army green.
Made from a soft knit twill and featuring a beautiful worn-in effect through garment dye, they elevate the standard to a new level due to the amazing fit and details such as the bottom cuffs, panels, pockets and drawstring on the waist. Here I went for a full-on Summer attire, pairing them with an oxford tunic, panama hat and sockless boat shoes.
Details: original Panama hat, oxford tunic by Ozwald Boateng, sweatpants by James Perse, boat shoes by Buttero, bracelets by Viola Milano and watch by Daniel Wellington.

PG - Blogging My City #3
What better place to get lost and wander for hours than Porto’s Botanical Garden? Materializing an “Alice in Wonderland” universe, this massive garden features some of the most amazing sights the city has to offer, all while putting you in close contact with nature. The idyllic space is perfect to clear your mind from the drudgery of everyday life, allowing you to get in touch with your thoughts, relax, meditate or even work in a unique environment.
Lush areas filled with bushes and trees alternate with floral mazes and barren land thriving with cacti and amazing greenhouses. All in all, this garden is a one-of-a-kind experience that ultimately feels intoxicating and makes you want to come back for more, be it for its serenity or the uncanny feeling of realizing just how insignificant we are when gazing at some of the majestic trees that populate the space.
Picking up one of my favourite pieces of the season, a timeless suede bomber jacket, this look is one I can see myself wearing over and over. The sheer versatility of the jacket allows endless variations of the portrayed ensemble, exchanging the shirt and v-neck for a simple fitted tee, or the worn-out blue jeans by a white counterpart or chinos. The vibrant orange adds extra flare and Summery vibe, contrasting with the inner chambray lining on the jacket and picking on the orange highlights on the boat shoes.

Yuketen AW14 Pitti Preview
Mr. Yuki Matsuda’s label has now become a mandatory visit whenever I’m at Pitti. As a footwear aficionado, it’s hard not to drool when faced with Yuketen’s extensive collection, comprised of trademark designs that are constantly elevated to new levels, be it through subtle aesthetical tweaks or core construction techniques.
Although some particular models may be somewhat over the top for my personal taste, the common denominator for all things Yuketen is superb quality and craftsmanship. Starting with skilled artisans who resort to traditional construction techniques, up to the high-end materials and attention to detail, every single item transpires authenticity and love for the product (this goes for both shoes and accessories).
Some of my personal favourites included a beautiful derby shoe with ripple soles, available in supple leather and suede, along with an updated version of the Maine Guide Boot with silver Concho and hand-painted beads.
