Orlebar Brown SS15 Pitti Preview
When it comes to high-end beachwear, few other brands have earned the success and recognition of Orlebar Brown…and rightfully so. It feels kind of limiting referring to OB as purely beach/swimwear, especially since the company has been constantly evolving to expand and improve their offerings.
Although their swim shorts and casual polos still take the lead when it comes to brand awareness and sheer quality, namely the versions with photographic prints, the SS15 collection features welcome additions such as a variety of tees using the same technique, sweaters, shirts and sneakers. Besides the quality and fit of the garments, production is based in Portugal which just adds another note of personal love from my end. Hopefully I’ll be able to visit their facilities soon and grant you a sneak peek into the backstage.

MAN 1924 SS15 Pitti Preview
By now, the outstanding label run by my friends Carlos, Jorge and Olga needs little to no introduction. From Spain to the world, they have been able to set MAN 1924 as a menswear reference for good taste and classic tailoring with a twist. Meeting with them and going over their creations is always pleasure: besides the amazing garments, they present what is arguably the best styling and layering at Pitti.
The perfectly balanced mix of casual and polished elements, brilliant pattern and texture combinations and superb use of accessories, results in an eye-catching collection that appeals to most. To top it off, a brief conversation is enough to understand their passion and the authenticity poured into each creation, as they embody this very personal style and philosophy reminiscent of the Spanish tradition.
For SS15, the collection delivers a classic color palette focused on pastels, with the occasional navy and blue adding some contrast. Linen and lightweight cottons are abundant, as are special waxed and washed finishings spread throughout blazers, parkas and safari jackets. Their interpretation of the safari, featuring a super soft washed cotton fabric and details such as epaulets, belt and deep pockets was probably one of my favourite pieces on display at the fair.

The White Briefs AW14 Pitti Preview
If I was asked to point out the best “revelation” of Pitti’s latest edition, I would probably have to say The White Briefs. While the brand’s been around for some time now, this was actually my first visit to its stand and I must say I was nothing short of impressed.
I believe a structured wardrobe is cemented on quality basics, a selection you keep on rotating all year round and that perfectly blends with most of your attires. These basics fall into several garment categories and don’t necessarily need to be boring or uninteresting: the thing is, quality essentials are hard to find…
As such, when browsing through The White Brief’s upcoming collection I was feeling ecstatic. A solid selection of quality basics, set on the values of exquisite fabrics, craftsmanship, comfort and a hint of sustainability through the sole use of organic cotton, made for some of the most impressive garments around. The khaki cotton kimono and navy contrasting sweatpants are already on my wishlist.
