Urban Camo
One of the best ways to incorporate camo into your outfits is to slowly work it through small accessories such as pocket squares or ties, and then transition to larger accessories or garments, where the print’s visual impact grows proportionally. This backpack from Herschel has one of the most appealing camo prints I’ve seen lately, perfectly blended with contrasting leather details, which set the mood for the whole look. The vintage camel suede bomber was the perfect match for those green shades and leather highlights…

Sharp Florals
There’s no need to go over about how florals have been killing it lately. By now, you’ve all seen hundreds of variations on the theme in every SS12 collection. While I already owned a couple of alternatives, I have a hard time saying no to Our Legacy especially when they deliver a capsule collection with such an outstanding version. The darker shade adds an elegant feel and the pattern is perfect in both color and scale.

Spring Check in
It seems lately everything is about patterns: stripes, florals, surf inspired motifs or even wilder prints such as the ones from Gitman and Our Legacy latest drops, there’s a hype about which one is trendiest and what garments to sport them in. Although I’m a sucker for many of this season’s offerings I have to admit that checks still do, and have done so for me ever since their popularity boom about 3/4 years ago. There’s just something about a well balanced checked patterned that makes it both timeless and up to date, granting it a place in everyone’s wardrobe for years to come. This shirt by Our Legacy was love at first sight and has become the only short sleeve version in my wardrobe so far; the brilliant color scheme makes it perfect with denim and khakis while its casual feel allows to sport it over a tee. The polka dot pocket square on the trucker jacket opposes its relaxed nature and adds yet another pattern to the mix…

Once you’ve got your basic shades of navy and black covered, investing in an unexpected topcoat such as this in herringbone brown spotted wool is definitely worth it. Tailored to my liking it’s a fresh take on this classic and a perfect match for darker shades such as navy, burgundy or charcoal. Love how the subtle understated navy and purple details on the tie match the shades on the cardigan and scarf…

This is one of my all time outerwear favourites: the Pea Vest. Reminiscent of the iconic peacoat with the double breasted closure and wide lapel, and throwing in the mix a puffed vest model it’s been one of the most heavily rotated pieces on my wardrobe as of lately. A perfect match for the houndstooth elbow patches on the cardigan.

Faithful companions #2
I have a thing for watches…without wanting to underrate the role other objects play in a man’s attire, I find the watch to be the ultimate men’s accessory.
Throughout history, and to this day, they’ve been spotted on the wrists of powerful and stylish individuals, emphasizing they’re image of confident, self assured, decided men. Not to say these traits cannot be portrayed by bare wristed men, but there’s something about a watch that just seems to accentuate them. In fact, as it’s usually the only accessory for many men, a timepiece can say much about its wearer…
For the second entry of the “Faithful Companions” series, I’ve decided to go with what is probably my favourite watch among those I own: the Rolex GMT Master II. The thing I love the most about it, is that it’s been passed on to me by my father, so on top of being an outstanding horological piece it holds a deep sentimental value. Furthermore, its aesthetic makes it an all rounder, being definitely one of the heaviest rotated pieces in my collection.
I definitely hope to carry on the tradition by passing it on to my son someday…
