It’s June once again…for all those in the #menswear scene this means only one thing: Pitti Uomo. As I write this, thousands of people are flying to Firenze for yet another edition of what is arguably the most hyped event in men’s fashion: designers, buyers, personalities, bloggers, media, you name it. On Sunday it’s my turn…
This will be my 3rd consecutive year at Pitti and still I can’t help but feel excited as invitations and appointments make their way into my inbox. The fair has become my bianual escape to a beloved universe where I can meet friends, favourite brands, designers and work…a lot! As usual I’ll be covering collection previews and street style, but this time around there are also some surprises in store for you. Stay tuned!
Yuketen AW14 Pitti Preview
Mr. Yuki Matsuda’s label has now become a mandatory visit whenever I’m at Pitti. As a footwear aficionado, it’s hard not to drool when faced with Yuketen’s extensive collection, comprised of trademark designs that are constantly elevated to new levels, be it through subtle aesthetical tweaks or core construction techniques.
Although some particular models may be somewhat over the top for my personal taste, the common denominator for all things Yuketen is superb quality and craftsmanship. Starting with skilled artisans who resort to traditional construction techniques, up to the high-end materials and attention to detail, every single item transpires authenticity and love for the product (this goes for both shoes and accessories).
Some of my personal favourites included a beautiful derby shoe with ripple soles, available in supple leather and suede, along with an updated version of the Maine Guide Boot with silver Concho and hand-painted beads.

SuperDuper Hats AW14 Pitti Preview
Following the outstanding opening show Matteo Gioli and his crew put together, there wasn’t much more else to say about SuperDuper Hats… A closer look at their debut stand presented an outstanding array of hats and caps, all in a variety of models and luxurious materials that immediately caught your attention.
Besides the unique aesthetic and attention to detail poured into each model, the understated color palette was absolutely stunning featuring shades of teal, blue, camel, grey and brown. Handmade in Italy, these hats exude quality and a trademark character that makes them my first choice when compared to other high-end offerings out there…
