It took us a while but the 2nd entry of the Beyond Fabric movie series is now up! Shot once again at our hometown of Figueira da Foz, Portugal, the focus is on a polished yet relaxed Summery attire, with Driftwood Collective’s brand new shop as background. Two distinct universes come together through our mutual love of beautiful things and creative concepts, but overall our friendship and brotherhood.

The Strap Ankle Boot
There’s an underlying elegance in leather strap footwear: monks for instance, be they single or double convey a characteristic poise enhanced by the belt-like fastening and metal buckles. As in so many other pieces, those small details make a whole lot of difference…
While looking for a more classic boot, reminiscent of the Chelsea and versatile enough to sport with jeans, chinos or slacks, I came across this version from Carlos Santos. Perfect height sitting at the ankle, beautiful shade of brown leather, Goodyear welted soles and featuring a strap fastening that instantly caught my eye. The sleek silhouette is balanced by the metal buckles and leather straps making them appropriate for dressing up or down according to your mood or preference. The perfect allrounder that was missing from my footwear collection, these will be on heavy rotation to achieve that perfect worn in effect.

Birthday’s Attire
Even if getting older isn’t necessarily a bad thing, a lot of people hate celebrating their birthday…I, on the other hand, make it a point to have the day off to do the things and be with the people I love, but to each his own. Also, I’m usually in the mood to debut new garments on the occasion.
This time around, it all revolved around green, one of my favourite shades and unfortunately, one of the most underrated out there. There’s a reason Boglioli is considered by many the epitome of Italian suiting, you need only take a look at the blazer to recognized its traits: washed finishing, unstructured, lightweight, fitted and featuring a superb herringbone pattern. One of the most interesting things about this look, besides the color and texture schemes, is the fact that despite each of the most striking pieces: suit, vest and tie were bought separately, they all matched perfectly in the end.

Looks Promising
Q:Hi there, Truly an inspiring blog you have, thanks a lot! I have a question about my search for the perfect summer jacket; I'm searching for a jacket that is versatile - so I want to wear it with a denimshirt or simple t-shirt but also with an more dressed way (shirt + cardigan + tie). And because it's for the summer, I prefer it to be colorful (light red for example). Hopefully you can help me with some suggestions. Thanks again :) Kind regards, Andy
Hi Andy, thanks for the support!! =) The search for the perfect summer jacket may pose somewhat of a challenge, especially when you throw light red to the mix. For me, it should be unstructured, fully unlined or just sleeve lined and made from a lightweight fabric such as cotton or linen. Several brands offer these features although with different price tags, but since you didn’t mention a budget, I’ll leave with some alternatives to cover the whole spectrum:
- Boglioli
- Barena
- Beams + (the closest to light red)
- YMC
- Zara
Hope this has been of help!
Best,

Ethnic Pattern Mix
If you’re acquainted with Our Legacy’s latest creations you’ve certainly recognized this Ethnic Arrow Shirt from their AW11 collection. Although it’s most definitely one of their strongest pieces to date, it’s also a challenge to mix and match, due to the tablecloth fabric and iconic print. Here I used it as an overshirt and inverted the usual layering order, throwing a solid v-neck cashmere sweater underneath it. Keeping up the patterned theme, the fair isle socks add an amazing twist to the whole look, imbuing the slate grey creased trousers with a new found life.
